Guardian ad Litem – A child’s advocate in court.  More than 1,700 abused and neglected children in North Carolina go to court without someone to advocate just for them.Could you be the voice for a child? Could you speak up for their best interests? Could you work side by side with an attorney? Could you join 4,800 other volunteers in the state to say “I am for the child”? If so, becoming a Guardian ad Litem advocate could be a great opportunity for you!

DONATION VOLUNTEER POSITIONuntitled

The Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County ReStore is a nonprofit home-improvement store and donation center that sells new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials, and appliances to the public at 25%-75% of the retail price. The Forsyth ReStore is proudly owned and operated by our affiliate. Proceeds from the ReStore are used to build home and hope here in our own community.

DUTIES
• Answer customer questions
• Direct customers to different areas of the ReStore
• Help get donations out of donor’s vehicle
• Make the donations floor-ready
• Move furniture to the sales floor
• Bring donations to the customer’s vehicle

Mentors Needed

As a sub-grantee of the National Mentoring Program of Catholic Charities USA, the Piedmont Triad Office of Catholic Charities in Winston-Salemis developing a small mentoring program. Catholic Charities is recruiting adults who want to make a difference in a youth’s life to mentor youth between 10-17 years of age. A specific need is for bilingual men and women to mentor Hispanic youth. Mentors must be 21 years of age, reside in the Piedmont Triad area, agree to a firm 1-year commitment to spending 2-3 hours a week with a youth, complete a screening process that includes background checks, attend required initial and ongoing training, have reliable transportation, a current driver’s license, insurance, and a good driving record; and regularly communicate with the program coordinator. Do you have wisdom to share? Are you 60 or better and enjoy offering guidance to younger generations?

Members of the Elder Wisdom Circle are seniors who share their wisdom with young advice seekers from across the world. Via the Internet, Elders answer advice requests at their own convenience, offering young readers personalized and free advice on a wide range of topics – love and relationships, family and child-rearing, career and self-improvement, and more.

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Elder Wisdom Circle has more than 600 Elders (aged 60 to 105) across North America. The EWC program and our Elders have been featured on ABC, BBC, CBS, FOX, NPR and in such publications as Glamour, the LA Times, Ladies Home Journal, Real Simple, Time & USA Today. We are one of the largest providers of personal advice, with hundreds of thousands of readers.

We are looking for seniors in your area to help expand our national reach. Please visit our site at www.ElderWisdomCircle.org and then the ‘Offer Advice’ tab on the top of the homepage. All advice providers must be 60 or better, no exceptions. Volunteers must complete an application and screening process.
